I saw this on a billboard on the way home from Thanksgiving and couldn’t believe it.
“For the price of a 1-year Silver Pass you’ll receive 2 years of unlimited admission, free general parking, and savings on food, beverages and merchandise to SeaWorld San Diego. You’ll also save 50% on single-day admission to 7 other Worlds of Discovery parks.”
The only caveat is that you can not use EZ pay (the monthly payment plan) with this deal. I contacted customer service to find out when the end date for this promotion is. They have not set an end date because they want to encourage people to buy the promotion as soon as possible.
Here’s the bonus for current Silver Pass Holders: If you are not up for renewal for a few months (like me) you can buy this promotion and it will extend your pass 2 years from your actual renewal date. So you can renew as far in advance as you like. For instance, I’m up for renewal in April 2010. If I buy this promotion now, my next renewal date is April 2012. I’m going to do it!
However, if you are currently on the EZ pay plan, there are a few steps you have to take. You must buy an entirely new Silver Pass (don’ follow the online renewal instructions). Print off the eTicket voucher but don’t take it to the park until after your one year EZ pay pass is expired. The voucher is activated the first day you use it, therefore, it will be good for 2 years after first use. You’ll also need to call Sea World at 1 800 25-SHAMU (option 2) right before your normal expiration, to cancel your EZ pay draft so that you don’t double pay. Their current operating hours are Monday – Saturday, 8:30am – 5:00pm PST. I hope that made sense!
This also means that if you have a child that is about to turn 3 years old, you can buy the pass now and then activate it at your child’s birthday. La Jolla Girl turns 3 in April so I’ll start using it then. Children under the age of 3 are free.
If you buy the Silver Pass online, the cost is $109 (for both kids and adults) but at the park it’s $159. Buy it online here.
If I find out an end date for this promotion, I’ll let you know. Sea World Orlando is also having an annual pass promotion, though different than San Diego.
