2009 was an incredibly crazy year for La Jolla Family. Now that we’re more settled back in the good old USA, I’m hoping that 2010 will be a little easier on us.
Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? I don’t because I’m typically not organized enough to follow through plus our lives were so hectic (which oddly, I miss) that I couldn’t tell you what continent we’d be on when at any point in the year. I’m also sensitive to not creating unnecessary disappointment should I not follow through on any of them. I’m not calling these resolutions, but here’s what I’d like to get accomplished this year.
1. Lose 10 lbs – similar must be on the list of almost every female. I stack on a few every winter to keep me warm.
I am lucky that it sheds quickly….so far.
2. Do yoga once a week – I need it because I’m just not getting any younger, unfortunately.
2. Organize photos – I’m almost there. It was a form of closure after leaving Hong Kong.
3. Clean out files – We have a ton leftover from living on 3 continents. That’s lots of tax returns.
4. Spend more time with my friends – I need to make more of an effort. My house becomes a vortex sometimes.
5. More road trips – We have no excuse. Every time I read Sunset Magazine, I think we should go to wherever in CA they feature. Speaking of trips, LJ Girl and I will hopefully spend a month in Hong Kong this summer barring any disasters. I can’t wait, I miss my friends there.
6. Create 2 of the most awesome eco friendly bathroom remodels ever - First meeting is mid Jan. We’ll see how it goes. I’m sure I’ll be venting plenty about it for the next 6 months or whatever. It’s the last stage of our massive home renovation. I’ve been putting it off because it’s so draining, but it’s time and I’m feeling ready, finally.
7. Keep my family healthy – I could be more proactive about that.
8. Get some work done on this website that I’ve been thinking about for ages – It’s been successful beyond what I could have imagined, in such a short time, thanks to you all.
9. Take a real bonifide wine course – I love Wine Wednesdays and it’s sparked a new interested in really learning about wine. Plus the bonus is that I get to drink it!
10. Remember to apply eye and foot cream – See above about not getting any younger.
11. Clean out my email inboxes – I have tens of thousands in one account to delete. Sad, I realize.
We’re glad to kick 2009 to the curb. It came with too much stress, too much change, too many illnesses and was too exhausting. Frankly, this blog was very therapeautic and to everyone that reads it, I’m very grateful. So I guess, 2010, no more curve balls, minimal drama and supply tons of zen. Pretty please?
The JuiceBoxJungle Widget in my sidebar talks about New Year’s Resolutions if you want to check it out. They are always super clever.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2010!!!

I am so with you on your list; especially organizing photos, spending more time with friends and being social in general and doing more road trips!
Happy New Year – look forward to reading about your progress on your list.

Great list. I don’t make resolutions either. Too much pressure. Happy New Year!

It’s so funny pretty much all us moms are resolving to lose weight and exercise. Do we do this every year? Have you done that before, and have you succeeded? I’ve chosen not to set resolutions because I never keep them!
