On Saturday, March 20th the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center will be offering FREE ADMISSION all day long from open to close (9:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.). Free admission is to our exhibit galleries, and IMAX films will be discounted to $8.50 for person, all ages!
They are doing this in conjunction with the Balboa Park-wide “Family Science Day” to be held on Saturday, March 20th.
Some of the fun activities visitors can take part in, for FREE, at the Fleet that day from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. include:
- Make your own spectroscope, similar to the instrument used on the Hubble Space Telescope to measure light coming from distant stars
- See the latest research and images from NASA in the “Origins in Space” exhibition
- See a 1/25 model of the Hubble Space Telescope on display at the Fleet through March 28th only
- Pose for a photo with “Reuben the Astronaut” who will be wearing an authentic NASA Astronaut Space Suit
- Take the Hubble Trivia Challenge for a chance to win IMAX passes, astronaut ice cream and other space-y prizes
Their new IMAX Film, HUBBLE, will also be playing throughout the day at 10:00 a.m.; 12:00 p.m.; 2:00 p.m.; 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. (Film is discounted to $8.50 per/person age 3+)
As I’ve mentioned several times already, La Jolla Girl loves the Reuben H. Fleet. She has seen two IMAX films there and loves the exhibits as well as Kid City. The IMAX films she’s seen are about 45 minutes in length which is perfect for a young kid. I like that the exhibits she’s interested in all have a learning aspect to them.
San Diegans: Save the date for a tweetup there on May 6, details coming soon! We’ll spend a few hours at the Fleet and grab and early dinner or happy hour after with the kids.
