Red Blend

I don’t remember why this red blend wine wound up in the cart but it was purchased at San Diego Wine Company for $9.95.  I did ask an employee for recommendations but we wound up with so many different bottles it was hard for me to keep track.  I did manage to walk out with [...]

Wine Wednesday: Goose Ridge g3 2006 Red Wine

Post image for Wine Wednesday: Goose Ridge g3 2006 Red Wine

by La Jolla Mom on December 16, 2009

Ihadn’t heard of Goose Ridge before, but knew that Washington has been cranking out some great wines. Goose Ridge is a family owned and operated winery in Washington’s Columbia Valley. This area of Washington is actually sun drenched and receives less than 8″ of rain a year! The Monson family has farmed in this valley [...]

Iwrote about Clif Winery last week so this week I’d like to focus on the actual wines.  The first wine we tried was The Climber 2006 Red Wine.  We had some people over so I intended to share it over a nice tri tip dinner (I actually marinated it in Jack Daniels and apple cider -  [...]

Post image for Wine Wednesday – Galil Mountain Yiron 2004

by La Jolla Mom on September 23, 2009

I have to tell you that once I saw this wine at Costco, I was intrigued. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a wine from Israel. I paid $19.99. I also wrote a short post about Israeli wines today.
About the winery:   It’s located in the mountains of Upper Galilee which are [...]

Wine Wednesday – Montgras Quatro 2007

Post image for Wine Wednesday – Montgras Quatro 2007

by La Jolla Mom on September 2, 2009

We decided to try another Montgras Wine since we like their Carmenere so much. This we also bought at Bevmo and it got the same 93 rating by Wilfred Wong as the Atrocedro I reviewed last week. This is a blend of 4 grapes, hence the “Quatro” and it was $13.99.
Winemakers notes:
“A blend of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% [...]

Wine Wednesday – promisQous California Table Wine

Post image for Wine Wednesday – promisQous California Table Wine

The phrase “table wine” can be a turnoff, I know.   I didn’t see the “table wine” part but just bought this for the label.  I paid about $8.99 on sale at VONS.  I have a few friends with “issues” and any wine with this name would be a funny conversation piece in their presence.  Recently, our [...]

Wine Wednesday – Parducci Sustainable Red 2005

Post image for Wine Wednesday – Parducci Sustainable Red 2005

by La Jolla Mom on August 12, 2009

This wine was an impulse buy at Bevmo. It had it’s own corner display and a tag about how it’s sustainably farmed. Great! I’ll take it. Wilfred Wong gave it a rating of 88. It’s on sale now for $8.99 at Bevmo but I think I paid a little bit more than that.
Parducci is a [...]

This can be found at Trader Joes for $5.99!
I was skeptical, but since it is organic, I bought it.   The price made me nervous. La Jolla Dad and I drank it and both thought it was surprisingly good, for the price.  Smooth without that sort of violent acidic thing that a lot of cheap wines have.  [...]
